The Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan has taken up the initiative of adoption of a village by every State University in Rajasthan for developing Smart Village with the purpose of ensuring that it becomes a model village where all the schemes of Central Government and State Government are effectively implemented and dovetailed with innovative projects initiated by respective universities.
22 State Funded Universities have adopted 54 villages in all under phase I and II. 23 villages have been adopted under phase III of USR. 13 villages are of Scheduled Area districts. Activities conducted under USR are as follows:-
Construction of convention hall, additional classrooms, smart classrooms, providing furniture, android tablets and computer for promoting digital learning, scholarship to girl students, ceiling fans and tree guards to Government schools. Oxygen concentrators for village hospital. An amount of Rs. 3.94 Lacs has been sanctioned by Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited, Udaipur for providing furniture and almirah at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Madar (Udaipur).
Promoting formation of women Self Help Groups and FPOs, Skill development training in furniture making from Lantana shrubs, training on custard apple plucking and processing, training on dairy and vermicompost and establishing vermicompost units. Other than farm trainings, trainings were also given on Raj Mistri, two wheelers repair, cellphone repair and ladies tailor that helped beneficiaries to establish their enterprises. Promoted Pratapdhan poultry for backyards, established 152 units of poultry and provided the farmers with water trays, feeding trays and other equipments. Kadaknath and Pratapdhan poultry eggs were provided for hatching. Distribution of Sirohi breed bucks for goat breed improvement and farming.
Cleanliness drive, awareness camps, construction of toilets, drainage under SBM and cleaning of water tanks in school was conducted. Collection of waste and providing dustbins. Awareness rallies by student volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS) on issues like Water Conservation, Save Girl Child, Clean India Mission, Personal hygiene and use of toilets etc. was organised. Students volunteers also cleaned choked drainage nallis and school premises in
villages.
Health check-up, blood donation, vaccination, de-addiction camps, yoga camps were conducted. Covid awareness camps, distribution of medicine, quath, masks, sanitizers and relief material was done. Promotion of nutri-garden, intake of iron rich grain and awareness on women health issues was carried out by rallies and awareness camps, villagers specially women and girls were educated about the importance of health hygiene and nutrition. Nehru Yuva Kendra, Udaipur organised youth training on welfare, positive lifestyle and Fit India. In the health camps, free mass screening, breast cancer examination and eye checkups of tribal women were done, they were also provided masks and sanitary napkins.
Seed replacement with high yielding crop, fruits, vegetable varieties, scientific crop, vegetable cultivation for higher income and productivity, distribution of fruits plant, promoting organic farming, mushroom farming, farm mechanization, processing and value addition. Training and demonstration on post harvest technologies viz. garlic de-breaking, aloe vera gel extraction, maize dehusker and onion peel removing
machines. To reduce drudgery and increase efficiency of farmers, they were provided with weeding operation machines, battery operated knapsack sprayers, steel bins, milk cans, bullock yoke, spades, pick axes etc.
MPUAT, Udaipur developed 152 Pratapdhan poultry units for backyard farming, farmers were provided with chicks, eggs of Kadaknath and Pratapdhan for hatching, water trays and feeding trays, Goat Breed improvement by distributing Sirohi breed bucks, animal treatment and
vaccination camps. Training and establishment of dairy, vermicompost and azolla units. Organised training programmes on ‘Unnat Bakri Palan evam Prabandhan’ and ‘Kukkut Palan’. In the programme, lectures were delivered on economic importance of goat farming, feeding management, vaccination, deworming, housing and general management.
Establishment of 5 KV capacity Solar Tree in Government Senior Secondary School Madar which was unveiled by Hon’ble Governor on 21.12.2021. Distribution of solar cooker and solar lights to villagers. Organised farm women Sanghosthi on awareness about renewable energy resources in coordination with National Institute of Research for Agriculture under National Research Council, New Delhi in which light was thrown on importance of renewable energy resources. University scientists advised villagers to use solar equipments for the benefits of their health, eco friendly environment and saving of time and labor.
Water management in villages has been done by creation of two plastic lined ponds, desiltation of nadis, solar water community pump, promotion of drip irrigation, construction of sub-surface dyke under MP/MLA LAD. Centre for Micro Finance (CMF), an Udaipur based NGO, has promoted drip irrigation in vegetable crops and hundred litres plastic drums were provided and kept at higher place for gravity flow of water through drip lines. Summer ploughing for conservation of rain water was demonstrated in ten hectares area using Mould Board Plough and chisel plough for which the university availed the opportunities of TAFE Scheme of free renting to small and marginal farmers of farm operation in villages.
Dissemination of social security schemes, career guidance for employment of unemployed youth and students for competitive exams. Distribution of dry ration kits to needy families by Breath Bank and Utkarsh (NGOs), Organising Senior Citizen camps. Under the ‘Janamdin Manao Punya Kamao Yojna’ initiated by JNVU Jodhpur, villagers are motivated to celebrate their birthday in village Gau-shala, villagers donate funds for welfare, fodder and maintenance of cows in Gau-shala.
Organising adult-literacy programme, providing uniform, sweaters to students, conducting computer classes, promoting female education and donation of computers are the means by which MPUAT Udaipur has promoted education and digital literacy in villages adopted under USR.
Installation of solar street/domestic lights, donation of water cooler with RO plant, construction of roads, anicuts, boundary wall of graveyard etc.

Under USR, 8 Scheduled Area villages are adopted by 3 State Universities with an aim to create livelihood security opportunities in Scheduled Area through trainings in Raj Mistri, 2-wheeler repair, cell phone repair, ladies tailor. Also, youth are receiving training in the centers of RSLDC, CIPET, MSME and RKCL in different courses like Health Care & Nursing, Beauty parlor, hospitality, garment & apparel making, house wiring, electrical, gem & jewellery etc.
Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas was organised on 15.11.2021 at Rajbhawan, Jaipur. In this ceremony, Trifed Rajasthan was awarded citation for the excellent work done by 7 Van Dhan Kendras of Scheduled Areas in different categories. On this occasion, 25 different varieties of products were displayed by Van Dhan Kendras at Raj Bhavan.
